I discovered a passion for drawing as a child and combining that with my love of animals I did my first commissioned portrait when I was 18. I have continued to draw and paint and experimented with different mediums and after having a break for a number of years, I’ve come back to my art with a new found enthusiasm.

 

I now prefer using soft pastels rather than the oil pastels I used to use, as I believe they are better for creating the texture and colour of an animals coat and those soft warm eyes that really express character.

 

I have been lucky enough to own a number of cats, dogs and horses over the years and understand the love and bond that we have with our animals and how important it is for a portrait to reflect that.
